THE PLATFORM

GOP PLATFORM

  • "Now, we can pass laws against abortion, let men decide what’s best for women.  From contraception to abortion, we’ll show them how it’s done".  Unknown  GA. Republican who wished he’d kept his big mouth shut.

  • "Faithful to the "self-evident" truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed.   We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.

  • We oppose using public revenues to promote or perform abortion or fund organizations which perform or advocate it and will not fund or subsidize health care which includes abortion coverage.  We support the appointment of judges who respect traditional family values and the sanctity of innocent human life.

  • We oppose the non-consensual withholding or withdrawal of care or treatment, including food and water, from people with disabilities, including newborns, as well as the elderly and infirm, just as we oppose active and passive euthanasia and assisted suicide.

  • We support the President’s strong efforts to promote adoption through increased tax incentives and bonuses to states that place older children in permanent family homes, as well as his efforts to promote foster care by increasing the allocation of funds for preventive and family services"

GOP Human Life Amendment to the Constitution

  • We must keep our pledge to the first guarantee of the Declaration of Independence. That is why we say the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and we endorse legislation to make it clear that the 14th Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.

  • Our purpose is to have legislative and judicial protection of that right against those who perform abortions. We oppose using public revenues for abortion and will not fund organizations which advocate it. We support the appointment of judges who respect traditional family values and the sanctity of innocent human life.

  • We oppose abortion, but our pro-life agenda does not include punitive action against women who have an abortion. We salute those who provide alternatives to abortion and offer adoption services, and we commend Congressional Republicans for expanding assistance to adopting families and for removing racial barriers to adoption.

  • We say the unborn child has a fundamental right to life. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and we endorse legislation that the 14th Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children. Our purpose is to have legislative and judicial protection of that right against those who perform abortions. We oppose using public revenues for abortion and will not fund organizations which advocate it. We support the appointment of judges who respect the sanctity of innocent human life.

Shift to community colleges and technical institutions

  • The first step is to acknowledge the need for change when the status quo is not working. New systems of learning are needed to compete with traditional four-year colleges: expanded community colleges and technical institutions, private training schools, online universities, life-long learning, and work-based learning in the private sector.

  • New models for acquiring advanced skills will be ever more important in the rapidly changing economy of the 21st century, especially in science, technology, engineering, and math.  Public policy should address all these challenges and to make accessible to everyone the emerging alternatives, with their lower cost degrees, to traditional college attendance.

No federal college loans; just insure private loans

  • Federal student aid is on an unsustainable path, and efforts should be taken to provide families with greater transparency and the information they need to make prudent choices about a student’s future: completion rates, repayment rates, future earnings, and other factors that may affect their decisions.

  • The federal government should not be in the business of originating student loans; however, it should serve as an insurance guarantor for the private sector as they offer loans to students. Private sector participation in student financing should be welcomed. Any regulation that drives tuition costs higher must be reevaluated to balance its worth against its negative impact on students and their parents.

Promote school choice and home-schooling

  • We applaud efforts to promote school choice initiatives that give parents more control over their children’s education. By the same token, we defend the option for home schooling and call for vigilant enforcement of laws designed to protect family rights and privacy in education. Children should not be compelled to answer offensive or intrusive questionnaires.

Support voluntary student-initiated prayer in school

  • We will continue to work for the return of voluntary school prayer to our schools and will strongly enforce the Republican legislation that guarantees equal access to school facilities by student religious groups. We strongly support voluntary student-initiated prayer in school without governmental interference. We strongly disagree with the Supreme Court’s rulings against student-initiated prayer.

Limit role of federal government in education

  • Shrink federal programs into five flexible grants.  Allow federal dollars to follow children to the school of their choice.  Expand choice by increasing the number of charter schools, and expanding education savings accounts.  Let children in dangerous schools transfer to schools that are safe and prosecute youths who carry guns and the adults who provide them.  Ensure that all children learn to read by reforming Head Start and by facilitating state reading initiatives.

  • The role of the federal government must be limited as we return control to parents, teachers, and school boards. We defend the option for home schooling and call for enforcement of laws to protect family privacy. We will work for the return of voluntary school prayer and will strongly enforce legislation that guarantees equal access to school facilities by student religious groups.

  • Lower Pell grants and scholarship money, cut back on education. In fact lets privatize education.  Lets get rid of the teachers and workers unions.

IMMIGRATION

  • Since we are exporting our jobs, lets export some illegal immigrants.  In 2010, immigrants were 26 percent of the electorate. Yesterday: 28 percent. Those immigrants helped OBAMA in seven swing states even if by a margin, the electoral votes matter and the Latinos, Asians, Dominicans, Jamaicans, and the Blacks were not courted by Romney.

  • The Republican party needs to reach out to more African Americans, more Women and more Latino people if it wants to survive.  The demographics of this country has changed and the GOP didn’t realize this.  Some think they can win back the White House if they can just get Marco Rubio to run in 2016.

  • They really think that all the Latinos will vote for a Latino no matter what their platform is, and what they say and do. This has backfired before. Latinos don’t forget and Latinos are passionate about support. They know when the candidate is pandering.  They are a lot sharper than he gave them credit for.  His last experience in latin relations was telling his gardener to get the illegal off his property since he had no green card.  That does not constitute a concerned individual.

NOTABLE ADD-ONS TO THE PLATFORM (OR WHAT THEY REALLY ARE ABOUT AND WISH THEY NEVER SAID)

"I am the senator. You are the citizen. You need to be quiet."
North Carolina State Senator Tommy Tucker (R), quoted by the Raleigh News and Observer, to Goldsboro News-Argus publisher Hal Tanner who was opposing legislation to change public notice requirements for local government.  (At that point  a committee to oust this imbecile should have been formed.)

"Mankind has existed for a pretty long time without anyone ever having to give a sex-ed lesson to anybody. And now we feel like, oh gosh, people are too stupid unless we force them to sit and listen to instructions. It's just incredible.”
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), quoted by Right Wing Watch, adding that it all reminded him of the Soviet Union.  (A shining star in the midst of a dim and overcast environment.  Gohmert’s stupidity and angst can save a political writers day by him just opening his mouth.)

"This administration has so many Muslim brotherhood members that have influence that they just are making wrong decisions for America."
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), in an interview with WND Radio, explaining what he sees as President Obama's downplaying of the threat of radical Islam. (Gohmert has been recognized by many groups as an ardent racist, nutcase, and all-around head of the biggest problem the Republican Party has…the combination of stupidity and a microphone.

GUNCONTROL
"I wonder how many Boston liberals spent the night cowering in their homes wishing they had an AR-15 with a hi-capacity magazine?”

Arkansas State Rep. Nate Bell (R), on Twitter.  (A huge recipient of NRA Money and a contender for a-hole of the year awards by many)

"A holstered gun is not a deadly weapon... But anything can be used as a deadly weapon. A credit card can be used to cut somebody's throat."
New Hampshire state Rep. Dan Dumaine (R), quoted by the
Concord Monitor, opposing a move to ban guns for the chamber floor.

"More background checks? Dandy idea, Mr. President. Should've started with yours.”
S
arah Palin, quoted by the New York Times, speaking to CPAC about President Obama's gun control proposals.  And if we really vetted Sarah Palins lies and exaggerations on almost anything she claims the meter would go off the deep end.

"Assault weapons is a misused term used by suburban soccer moms who do not understand what is being discussed here.
”Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder (R), quoted by the Missouri News Horizon , on efforts to ban assault weapons.

WOMENS RIGHTS and STUPID STATEMENTS BY SOME RECOGNIZED DUMBER THAN DUMB MR. AKIN

  • “It seems to me, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare,” Mr. Akin said of pregnancies from rape.
  • “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something:
  • I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child.”
  • Akin's Congressional career ended after he lost a bid to unseat U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, a Democrat, in the 2012 election. Akin, who had won the Republican primary in a crowded field, led McCaskill in pre-election polls.
  • Until he said that women who are victims of what he called “ Legitimate rape" rarely get pregnant. Akin eventually apologized for the remark, rebuffed calls to withdraw from the election, and lost 54.7 percent to 39.2 percent.

  • “In the emergency room they have what's called rape kits where a woman can get cleaned out."  Texas State Rep. Jody Laubenberg (R), quoted by the AP, arguing that a bill restricting abortion needed no exemptions for case of rape.

  • “He's partly right on that."  Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Georgia), an OB-GYN, quoted by the Marietta Daily Journal , on former Rep. Todd Akin’s (R-MO) “legitimate rape" comments.

  • Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Texas), quoted by Salon, suggested a fetus might masturbate.  "Watch a sonogram of a 15-week baby, and they have movements that are purposeful. They stroke their face. If they're a male baby, they may have their hand between their legs. If they feel pleasure, why is it so hard to believe that they could feel pain?”

  • "First of all, my kid's going to grow up in Gracie Mansion. So I’m going to say, ‘ Kid, don't complain.'"   Anthony Weiner (D), quoted by the Staten Island Advance, on what he’ll eventually tell his now 18-month old son about the sexting scandal he was involved in which sooner rather than later, ended his congressional career.  The moral of the story is if you have balls keep them off the internet and in a ball sack.

"I'm not gay.  So I'm not going to marry one."

Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Georgia), quoted by Politico, when asked if his views on gay marriage were changing.
