CHRIS CHRISTIE, A MAN WITH A MOUTH, SOMETIMES NOT CONNECTED TO BRAIN
NEW YORK TIMES - New York City handled its first case of Ebola with aplomb. As soon as the victim, Dr. Craig Spencer, notified authorities of his symptoms, he was whisked into isolation at Bellevue Hospital, while health officials tracked his previous movements to determine whether anyone else had been infected. The city's "carefully planned response was a world apart from the scene that unfolded in a Dallas hospital last month," wrote The New York Times. As a result, Ebola in New York City has so far been restricted to Spencer.
SO FAR SO GOOD HANDLED PROPERLY
New York City’s health department exhibited a degree of competence and professionalism that has been all too uncommon in the U.S.'s response to Ebola, especially in Dallas but New York has been preparing for this for years and ramped up recently. Their previous experience with the last pandemic problem HIV gave them a foothold on what needed to be done. Dallas was unprepared in training supplies, protocols and supervision.
SO THE DUMB-ASSES OF POLITICS WHO KNOW LITTLE AND TALK BIG
They cranked up the media, a chance for minutes of fame for them and the blame game and the political rhetoric began. Starting with Rick Perry of Texas, AKA “day late and very stupid sounding”, as usual followed by two governors leading the tristate area's defense against the virus. Whereas Rick Perry would start a war with Mexico, declaring a new Ebola border crossing emergency, Democrat Andrew Cuomo of New York and Republican Chris Christie of New Jersey threw everyone for a loop by instituting a mandatory quarantine for all health workers flying into the New York area who had previously come into contact with Ebola victims. Nothing like taking the high ground and "protecting their constituents" at the cost of the dignity and love these health workers showed to the critically sick and poor halfway across the world.
The move caused an uproar when a nurse, Kaci Hickox, (you go girl, you know more about Ebola than all three and their staffs do) was isolated in a tent outside a New Jersey hospital, and dared to call Christie out for his "appalling" behavior. Days later, Christie reversed course, and Hickox was released. All of the quarantining was based on what looks good on politics and repeatedly, ad nauseam “my job is to protect my state and it’s people”. If thats reality please resign, you don’t know squat.
Both governors were panned for rolling out a confusing, medically bunk plan that reeked of political opportunism, lacked common sense, did more to harm, accomplished nothing, because their mouth worked before they got with the medical science people who know alot more than these political hacks.
While Cuomo backed down but left Christie standing in a snowstorm with his pants down. Christie has retorted with his usual stubborn attitude, admonished the world cause “He’s right sparked with a whole lot of me-some".
HE TOLD TODAY MAGAZINE
"They don't want to admit that we're right and they were wrong," Christie told Today, speaking of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "I'm sorry about that.” He later went so far as to invite Hickox to sue him, saying, "Whatever. Get in line. I've been sued lots of times before."
CHRIS IS JUST CHRIS AND NOT PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL PERIOD
Christie at his most compelling, no... this is stock Christie, he would make a President totally embroiled in argumentative leadership. Cannon fodder for the press, every new day would be ringed with stories of well, just look at the record. He has tactfully stayed away from the line “ We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it’. Someone reminded him he already did.
He continues his "I’m right, your wrong approach to the media", basically instead of humble pie, and winning future friends, an attitude hard to define. The best I have come up with is something to the effect of challenging the natives to throw more wood on the fire as he is boiling in oil and then complaining it wasn’t Olive oil but they used Canola!
The Ebola panic offered Christie a rare opportunity to show a national audience that there is socially caring blood running in his veins. To of treated the nurse who gave all to help save lives in a place very far away, very primitive, and under stressful conditions. This is the same Christie whose denials and subterfuge in his style during the ongoing Bridge-gate turned many off.
Christie and Cuomo, two of the three knee-jerkers freaked out by the possibility of an Ebola-infected doctor inundating New York's commuter system because of Doctor Spencer. They never consulted with the CDC, the White House or any medical professionals at all. That it was such a flop with the medical community only makes the quarantine all the more suspicious, a seemingly tough-on-Ebola stance that was empty of any substance.
LOVED BY THE BOYS WITH WHITE HAIR AND MONEY
Republicans think this Christie is the great communicator. Before he was waylaid by the bridge scandal, and thats when many turn their back. Christie vs. Rand Paul, another “ Where the hell did become up with that one” communicator in preparation for the presidential elections of 2016
Christie was heading for great political accomplishment but he always seems to drive the truck off the road. His talents lie in the current events and handling forcefully when his state is threatened. As during Sandy the storm that rocked Jersey, and he did a good job inbound became a hero.At other times as when he got in the face of a public-school teacher, it has showed a petty and vengeful partisanship that few outsiders can stomach.
Since Bridge-gate which is not over, Christie has tried to repair the damage that stupid ploy did on the Bridge that day. The Ebola panic gave him such an opportunity, and he blew it. All he had to do was embrace the medical people even brave nurses who fight Ebola for a living and still protect his constituents.
Let me sum it up, he drove the truck off the road and then borrowed a bulldozer to pull the truck back on the road. But because he doesn’t know how to drive a bulldozer, it fell off the road in the same place. All of this would kinda send a message even to some of the clueless, AKA some parts of the Republican Base. President Obama and the federal government were handling the situation by relying on the science of Ebola and not the panic and political side of Ebola.
His response to Ebola reveals someone that frankly, “He would scare me running this country”. But I see him with a long and successful life working for FOX news, bold, brash, fearless perpetrator of mis-information and they have free donuts there at the station. I commend him for his weight loss unfortunately the cranial area hasn’t budged an ounce.
