IMMIGRATION WARS

IMMIGRATION WARS

This immigration issue, has been avoided long enough.  Years of  "kicking the can down the road"  have done nothing but allowed this mess to grow to the point where it is not acceptable anymore.

No more excuses, it's time for Congress to act.  Our elected officials have a sworn duty to the protection of the borders of the United States.

Soon the voting minorities will become the majority and who fears this the most?  Simple the party who has done more to limit immigration and has little respect for minorities, black, brown, yellow, and if they were here, the Klingons and Romulans.

They also have a clear obligation to work for America and it's ideals, not their political philosophies and personal financial growth which suits them more than us. We hired them and we need the right to fire them. Like death row. the inmate gets taken care of for twenty years, our politicians have the same free ticket for four or six years before they get cut loose. They also need to act on truth, the lies and false blames never seem to be challenged by our elected officials like the picture on the right.

Most of them stand clear of these issues because a) they haven't come up with the answers or b) their answers might do harm to their own personal career. It's not about them, we have problems on our borders and it's time for action, not words. It's an election year, it's easier to ignore it and like the Gordian knot, not so easy to unravel answers. That requires work and cooperation.

Illegal immigration, like a parasite brings along with it drug and human trafficking, shootouts, and murder. It has forced one state ARIZONA to enact a new and strongly opposed by some and loved by others a stop and search law, If an official approves of it , they are marked as profilers and racists.

If they do nothing, well that's Washington. Politically safer. But not a solution. You can change minds but you can't change a culture. The problem is that this "culture of doing nothing" is like a petri dish and it's growing the "ebola B virus".

NOW NOT LATER

Each day, week, month we ignore a full scale attack on the immigration problem we are closer to creating a situation too big to win. It's the antithesis of too big to lose. Sound familiar, it's called the Middle East crisis.

Without a clear cut objective, and without a finish line, there is no clear cut winner in a war. But this war is a lot closer to home and has turned deadly.  It's a tough call in an election year, you will make enemies whatever side you choose and the answer for a politician is to do nothing which is the mantra of my party, the Republicans.  I know nothing about the Independent party but what I see in the two others I don't care for. I will split votes.

The President, summed it up with his speech at the American University.  If you can't take sides, and there are positives and negatives for both, the answer is a comprehensive plan that puts us in the middle based on the core values of this country.  We are a country of immigrants and the problem is "How do we do it fairly and legally for all". The caveat is "How do we handle it for those who are illegal"

The genius of America, Obama said, is not passed down by birthright or heredity; its power is that of a magnet, attracting like minded people from around the world who yearn for opportunity.  He also said: "Reform that brings accountability to our immigration system cannot pass without Republican votes. That is the political and mathematical reality," he said.

As several have said this issue is not of illegals entering the country, that is the byproduct of failure within their own country. But logistically there are numbers that are shattering and require complex answers.

Almost two thousand miles of desert terrain that claims many each year who die of dehydration or get lost, and succumb to the heat.  Plans to seal this border are akin to the efforts of Katrina and Haiti. Sort of the squeaky wheel gets the grease. When the issue comes up things get done, they quiet down and all is forgotten till the next squeak.  Finish the border, make it secure and at the same time, offer the carrot. The border if done well, will mean we won't need the stick.

There are laws and if people follow those laws and requirements, I have no problem welcoming them into the fold of the "American Dream".  But we have to take a good look at the process, that leaves eligible people waiting for years to reunite with family members.

NEW VISAS PROGRAM

1-  We need to streamline the work visas program.  We have all the recognition systems and finger printers and can't seem to develop a procedure for the problem.

2-  We need identification so employers can hire and know who they hire. Suggested subcutaneous chips, dog tags like the military, and a chip device and picture ID that an agent on the border can scan someone from afar if needed.

3-  11 million illegal immigrants either have to be identified or deported out of the shadow economy. There will have to be some type of amnesty program for those without criminal records or other bad habits.

4-   It is a huge task but must be done and it is easier for those who do the right thing, register get their visa, pay taxes and fines, and learn English.

5-  Very harsh penalties for companies hiring the illegals. Shut them down if you have to.

6-  Even harsher penalties for those caught with drugs and "mule running".  Think WWSD, What would Stalin Do?  Stalin, he would shoot them. After all they are silently killing others.
